Bio
How I started my career.
I am a language teacher by education. I was the first candidate declared pass the selection for new teaching staffs at LIA in October 1976, and was assigned my first class on 1 April 1977.

Dreaming of having a good career in Teaching English, I decided to join Universitas Airlangga, working for the Language Laboratory, the embryo for Fakultas Sastra (Faculty of Letters). My responsibility was Teaching English for Specific Purposes to all first year students from all faculties across the university; Economics, Medicine, Dentistry, Law, Psychology, Social and Political Sciences; and the Graduate School as well. In my free time I did translation for senior students and colleagues from other faculties.

To upgrade myself, I made up my mind to take short courses in Public Relations, Marketing, and Leadership and Supervisory Skills. This brought me to the turning point in my life. A very famous local bank in town offered me a position as a Senior Staff in the Human Resources, Training and Development that offered me a lot of opportunities to familiarize myself with banking system and terminologies. A British Bank operating in Surabaya offered me a better position, as a Banking Operations Officer with an additional job translating important documents from English to Indonesian.

I have never dreamed of being an interpreter, but the first job I did for the a big conference in the Catholic Church in 1992 has made me feel confident. In addition, a very sincere compliment I got from one the participants in the World Bank Conference in 1999 has doubled my confidence to be an interpreter.

What I am doing now.
In 1995, I was involved in the early stages of setting up the first National Plus school in Surabaya belonging to Ciputra Group. After four years working for the school, I got a new position with the holding company as the Head of Training and Recruitment Division and a part time teaching staff for Universitas Ciputra.

Since 1 January 2010, I have retired from Ciputra Group- Real Estate though still keep two English Language classes at Universitas Ciputra. I am now free from my nine to five job, and this has given me more time to focus on my part-time teaching, while at the same time be a dedicated professional translator and interpreter.

Some of my translations:
1. Articles from The New Covenants for Majalah Kharisma, done in the years 1992 - 1995.
2. Praying the Rosary - not published, done in 1992.
3. Letters from The Holy See, An Easter Message in 1998 - published for internal use within the Catholic Church in Surabaya.
4. My Life, My Faith - An Autobiography.
5. The Ten Commandments of Business Failure - from Gramedia Publisher.
5. Manual for mobile phones, electrical appliances, guide book to a museum, tours and travels from some international agencies.
6. One of the team translators for Asiarooms.
7. SHELL product manual.
8. Company Annual Reports.

Recently I have been assigned to do a consecutive interpreting for meetings.
