German term

offene Reserven

German to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
Stille Reserven are hidden reserves or hidden assets, but what are 'offene Reserven'?

Hidden reserves

Assets or wealth of a company that cannot easily be detected from reading its balance sheet, such as undervalued assets or overstated expense provisions that might never be needed. Traditionally the term has been used with reference to banks that were allowed by regulatory authorities to understate the book value of certain assets by an undisclosed amount and hence to understate the amount of their reserves.

free reserves

"offene Reserven" are free available, they are not hidden in the balance sheet
Example sentence:

For the purchase of treasury shares the Annual General Meeting authorized the Board of Directors to convert up to CHF 1,080,000,000 into free reserves.

open reserves

what elsae? "open reserves" are evident, declared and unconcealed to the general public (e.g. in a balance sheet)
Note from asker:
Hi Goldcoaster. What else? How about the term of art used by English speaking financial experts? Search engines like Google can be helpful in determining who uses terms and how they are used by native speakers in various contexts. I searched under "open reserves" but found nothing to confirm that the term is in standard usage among native speaking financial experts. If you can prove me wrong, I’d be happy to be enlightened.
