VL

Spanish to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals Pharmacy Receipt
The following detail line appears in a pharmacy receipt in Spain:

Descripción Ap IMP Cd PVP Import
FORTASEC 2 MG VL 4.00 1 8.95 8.95

Please could anyone tell me what "VL" means in this context?

Cheers,
John

@Douglas FYI, restricting your answer to paying members does not necessarily guarantee quality of responses. For example, I stopped paying the tithe a few years ago, but I'm still an active contributor to the kudoz section. However, in this query, I wasn't even able to agree with Robert's suggestion or crack a joke. I'm suppose I'm lucky I can still post a comment here in Discussion.

@Douglas Actually, I'm not entirely sure "free sale" has the same meaning as "non-prescription" in this context. I've had a look into this a little more, and I haven't been able to either confirm or refute that idea. Years ago (15 or more) I used to translate certificates of free sale in Mexico for the US, and thinking back, I'm fairly sure I did some that included oxycontin, which is definitely not an OTC medication.
In any case, I've no idea what "Ap" means here, so I'm afraid I can't help either way. Good luck!

Thanks for your replies. I've just realised that the table entries are misaligned with the headers. "VL" appears under "Ap".
"Venta libre" seems like a good option, although a prescription was issued for this item and the same applies to another 4 items with "VL" on another pharmacy receipt (Primperan, Bisolvom, Tavanic, Zamene).

free sale (venta libre)

Could it mean "venta libre" (free sale), i.e., that this is an over-the-counter or non-prescription medicine?

"A Certificate of Free Sale, sometimes called a “Certificate for Export” or “Certificate to Foreign Governments,” is evidence that goods, such as food items, cosmetics, biologics, or medical devices, are legally sold or distributed in the open market, freely without restriction, and approved by the regulatory authorities in the country of origin (United States)."

"Afebril 200 VL
Ibuprofeno
Forma Farmacéutica: Comprimidos Masticables.
Industria Argentina
Condición de Expendio: VL Venta Libre."

Note from asker:
Thanks again. I decided to go with this, even though at least one of the items indicted as "VL" usually requires a prescription.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I decoded to go with "over-the-counter". Thanks again for the help."
