Spanish term

fondo fibrilar escaso

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) Brain Tumor
Thanks in advance. I am really stuck on this one.
This is a microscopic description
"Se observa lesion neoplasica glial de alto grado con diferenciacion astrocitica, muestra celularidad abundante en fondo fibrilar escaso"

I have translated the beginning, but the last phrase has got me stumped.

@All I hadn't seen this discussion when I posted my answer. It was my own idea. I didn't copy you! To me, the main part in question is the translation of "fondo", and I did find some examples of 'fibrillary fundus' in English. Also one example of 'glial fibrillar fundus'.
Joseph Tein Sep 23, 2021:
@Lisa Rosengard: Some comments on your comments: there are no components of neuralgia (which means nerve pain = neur + algia) mentioned or implied since this is a histology report, and "neuralgia" is a symptom, not a laboratory finding. There is no "lesion to the glial neoplasm" since the glial neoplasm IS the lesion we're dealing with. Yes, it's in the "brain tissue area" but there are varieties of brain tissue -- neurons, white matter, glia (including astrocytes) ... probably more, but this is all I know. Just to give you some detail and perspective on the context of this question.

Aquí fibrilar no aparece; sí en cambio fibrillar, pero solo en la entrada de fibril:

fibrillar \ ˈfi-brə-lər  , ˈfī- \ adjective

En el Collins también hay una entrada para fibrillary;

Y no aparece en cambio fibrilar/fibrillar salvo como anotación en fibril;

Lisa Rosengard Sep 22, 2021:
fondo fibrilar escaso It could be a diminishing fibre or fibrillar base or pool. A lesion to the glial neoplasm is a lesion in the brain tissue area. In the question it's of a high grade with astrocyte, components of neuralgia, showing cellularity, which is about cell divisions and bio-production. https://www.thefreedictionary.com/astrocyte

Chema Nieto Castañón Sep 22, 2021:
Fibrillary background maybe rather than "fibrillar". As for escaso, sparce, scarce, subtle... that is the idea anyhow although there are not quite many examples online.

scarce fibrilary background

I suggest: 'A neoplastic (neoplasm) glial lesion is observed. It has a high grade classification or a high priority with astrocyte differentiation. It shows abundant cellurality on a scarce fibrilary base or background.'
Information explains the serious nature of lesions or tumours to the brain matter or the cranium (skull) and spinal cord areas, as they affect the central nervous system. It also explains how tumours can potentially reach the head and neck area from other parts of the body. Further information explains the ways in which those conditions can be either malignant (cancerous) or benign (not life-threatening).
"Neurolgia is the supportive tissue of the central nervous system, including the network of branched cells in the central nervous system (astrocyte, microglia and oligodentrocytes) and the supporting cells of the peripheral nervous system (Shwann cells and satellite cells), also known as 'glia'."
"More than 150 different brain tumours have been documented, but the two main groups are termed primary and metastatic. Primary brain tumours include tumours that originate from the tissues of the brain's immediate surroundings. Primary tumours are categorized as glial (composed of glial cells) or non-glial (developed on the structure of the brain, including nerves, blood vessels and glands), benign and malignant.
Metastatic tumours can also occur elsewhere in the body. They can migrate to the brain through the bloodstream. They are cancerous and malignant.
'Gliomas' are the most prevalent type of adult tumours. They arise from the supporting cells of the brain, called the 'glia'. These cells are subdivided into astrocytes, ependymal cells and oligodroglial cells (or oligos). Glial tumours include: Astrocytomas, the most common glioma, account for about half of all the primary brain and spinal cord tumours. Astrocytomas debelop from star-shaped cells called astrocytes, part of the supportive tissue of the brain.
'Ependymomas' are derived from a neoplastic transformation of the emendymal cells lining the ventricular system, accounting for 2 -3 % of all brain tumours. Glioblastoma multimforme (GBM) is the most invasive type of glial tumour. Those tumours tend to grow rapidly, spread to other parts and have a poor prognosis."

Example sentence:

"Astrocytes are any group of star-shaped cells that have long processes extending out in all directions, and are components of the neurolgia, prividing support for neurons (brain cells) in the central nervous system, as they have a variety of functions."

"Synaptic functions relate to nerve endings.
