Spanish term

conformar (here)

Spanish to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals Clinical trials
Que se ha recibido respuesta del Investigador principal a las observaciones emitidas en dictamen del [fecha], conformando las mismas las inquietudes allí expresadas.

It seems to mean, that conformar here indicates that the remarks/observations raised constitute/concern the concerns expressed or?

@ all I'd agree with Toni that it should be confirming. I read this as "Las mismas" being the "observaciones" so this is confirming the concerns/worries expressed therein. Perhaps another word missing as it doesn't read right?
Toni Castano Jul 11, 2023:
@Jeff I think I understand what you mean, but my opinion is still the same. I believe "confirming" is what fits here. However, just to be on the safer side, if you can ask your client, please do it. Perhaps they can "confirm" if "confirmando" :-) is spot on here.

Yes but if you look at the sentence: Que se ha recibido respuesta del Investigador principal a las observaciones emitidas en dictamen del [fecha], conformando las mismas las inquietudes allí expresadas: The rest of of the sentence wouldn't make much sense: "conformando las mismas las inquietudes allí expresadas", the las mismas seems to refer to the observations... so why would the observations confirm the concerns expressed therein if the same body (the Ethics Committee) made them [So the EC in its opinion made observations. There are concerns expressed in said opinion. The PI responded to these concerns. That much is clear. But we have 'las mismas' ...

That occurred to me initially, actually, but thought it best to ask colleagues. It would make more sense as confirmando.

@Jeff Typo, not "conformando" but "confirmando", i.e. confirming...

neutral Toni Castano : I very much doubt this suggestion makes any sense whatsoever. Have you realised that the letters "i" and "o" are together on the keyboard?

This si how I read it. The EC raised concerns and the PI responded by adjusting the clinical trial protocol based on their concerns/complying with their instructions
