cover

English Tech/Engineering Accounting stamp in singapore
What is 'cover' ?
[context]
Both stamp and non-stamp collectors will delight in the extensive collection of local and international stamps, and first day covers housed in this quaint building dated back to 1907. Stamps provide a visual re-telling of traditions and cultures, and this is most evident at the Singapore Philatelic Museum where multi-ethnic Singapore is captured through the history of stamps and postcards.

special envelope for first day of issue of new stamp

A first-day cover is a specially printed envelope only for use on the first day of issue of a new stamp. Having a stamp on such a cover increases its value.

Thank you. They say imitation is the highest form of philately, but my son is into it in a small way and I am not imitating him.

Thank you.
agree bigedsenior : It is not necessary for the envelope to have a cachet, only that the date stamp is correct. Early FDC's, and the true rareties, were on plain envelopes.

I'm not 100% sure, as the English is not very elegant. it looks like something that wasn't written by a native English speaker.

first day issue

On the day a new stamp is issued, you can get a special envelope on which it is stuck with the date "stamped" on it. The envelope usually have illustrations / explanations, etc about the person / area / topic the stamp celebrates.
