Industrial machinery
I am translating a User Manual for an industrial machine from English to Italian, which was previously translated from Japanese into English.
The following instruction are about the suitable environment for the installation of the machine:
"Please avoid installing the machine in the following places for safety usage:
...
- With star-burst connection"
I think this is a case of mistranslation. The only record useful I've found on Google is this Indonesian to English translation (http://www.proz.com/personal-glossaries/entry/18058175-sambu... that Google translated with "Multi-branch connection".
Any ideas of what it might be? I am not looking for an Italian translation, but more of a correct English definition.

star connection
I'm pretty sure this is talking about the type of electrical connection for a 3-phase machine.
There are two types of 3-phase connection possible: 'star' (in the US, called 'Y' or 'wye'), where the machine is connected between each of the 3 phases and neutral (so the connection diagrame looks like a 'Y' or rather miserable 'star'!
Or 'delta' (from the Greek letter capital delta: Δ), where the machine is connected between the phases (i.e. with no neutral connection) — the resulting connection diagram looks like a triangle.
For most equipment, only one of these types of connection is possible, and using the incorrect type could lead to a hazard — at the very least, non-functioning of the device!
Is this explanation consistent with the rest of your context?

While it is possible, given the provenance of this clearly incorrect EN term, that it could indeed mean simply a multiple connection as suggested by Diego, this seems less likely to me in the context of an "industrial machine" — presumably Asker may know more about this machine, whether or not it does use 3-phase power, what sort of power it draws, whether it is intended to be plugged into a conventional wall socket outlet, etc. — than it might in say a domestic or office context, where such multi-point connections are common (though to be deprecated!)

English term (edited):
star-burst connection
non attacchiamolo a multiprese
Il senso è questo: Non colleghiamolo a prese affollate.
"Do not provide the power cable with star-burst connection.
The star-burst connection in which many power plugs are connected to a specific outlet may heat power cords and the outlet to cause fire. Further, the star-burst connection may consume the power excessively to shut down the breaker"

elettriche o incendi.

Thank you! I hadn't noticed it.

: Conceivable, but probably unlikely in the context of an "industrial machine", which we may infer might draw a much heavier current than would be possible in this kind of configuration.
