English Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology) counter tallies
Total/subtotal discrepancies above are typically caused either by IP addresses not currently being in the database or by the gap between counter tallies (continous) and map updates (which may be daily, weekly, or monthly).

You often see them on people's blogs or even on some Proz profiles.

The above counter tally automatically counts the number of people who accessed that particular page, but there is also a device called tally counter, which you can find in the following Wikipedia page which you have to click every time manually.

agree Gary D : Site tallies, site hit counter, He is saying there is a gap between the visitors and the people who go the next step and upgrade the map. Ie; Visitors V uploads..no problem
