English term

Life (grams)

English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering
air filter for diesel engines

this is on a diagram where on the vertical axis you have "Restriction ( inch H20 )", on the horizontal axis "Flow Rate (CFM)" and on the vertical axis opposite the main one "Life (grams). The two curves inside the diagram are called "restriction" and "capacity". What are they measuring ...filter life in ...grams??

Yes, they do measure filter life in grams (of dust-holding capacity)

You can see Google hits (below)

Another thing: I would not say "Restriction" but "Resistance" as this is it (IMHO): resistance to air flow in inches of H2O (water) pressure.

Good luck!

agree Tony M : ...and I have come across the term 'restriction' OK in airflow applications.

Thanks - well, this just means that "the world is more complicated than our understanding of it" :-) which is a fancy way to say: "It's always great to learn something new!". Thanks!
