I'm translating a description of an early 19th c. German rifle with "Haarzüge," fine rifling with up to 120 grooves in the bore. Most Americans today would call it "micro-grooving," but given that "micro-grooving" is a registered trademark with the Marlin gun manufacturer, I don't think I can use it. What was the English word for Haarzüge before Marlin registered its trademark?

I found a 19th century reference to rifling in small arms, but some of the references on the web have to do with artillery pieces.
