Italian term

respiro nel fraseggio

Italian to English Marketing Music Entertainment
In lui si sente Duke Ellington e qualche traccia di Thelonious Monk o Fats Waller, ma il suo stile da sempre si caratterizza per la personalità di *respiro nel fraseggio*.

I am not finding an analogous technical phrase in English which uses booth words, rather only "phrasing".

agree philgoddard : I think it's respiro as in "di ampio respiro".

space in phrasing

Another possibility.

nice use of space in phrasing that didn’t strive to overwhelm yet not as airy as Teddy Wilson,

luxuriant phrasing

Ellington's trademark. Monk played hard bop, and Waller was a punchy tunesmith. Neither used the long, winding phrases so typical of the Duke.
