Russian term

ступени

Russian to English Tech/Engineering Aerospace / Aviation / Space
"Минимальный расчетный коэффициент запаса для рым-болтов ступени f° = 2."

I have "The minimum design safety factor for eye bolts . . ." and then I don't know how to handle the rest other than literally. I'm guessing ступень is "degree" here, since there's a degree symbol following the f, but I don't know how to put it together. Anybody have an idea?

Discussion

James McVay (asker) Oct 28, 2009:
I still wonder if ступень means "stage" here. But beyond that, I'm wondering how it all fits together.
GaryG Oct 28, 2009:
Mmm, what's your question, then? We agree that ступень, the term you entered, means "stage". Or is it whether f° is the Минимальный расчетный коэффициент запаса для рым-болтов
James McVay (asker) Oct 28, 2009:
It's a multi-stage rocket, all right And elsewhere ступень definitely means "stage," but here? I took f° = 2 to be the figure for the design safety factor. Any other thoughts?
GaryG Oct 28, 2009:
Is this of a missile? A multi-stage missile?
Mikhail Kropotov Oct 28, 2009:
Could this process have, umm, stages?

The context tells about the eye-bolt fail-safe strength ( design safety factor of eye-bolt strength).Actually it is some clearance (margin) and may be the pitch or step of eye-bolt thread. I give only the idea for better understanding. To my mind it's better to put down "degree" - eye-bolts of zero degree =2".

To my mind it's not a stage of rocket or missile. It's a mechanical value of eye-bolt fail-safe strength.
