Feudal lifetime titles for female commoners (still in use):
The title for women who are commoners used to be Thao (ท้าว).
For example, Thao Thepkrasattri, Thao Seesunthon, and Thao Suranaree, are famous heroines in Thai history. This title is no longer in use.
King Rama V created the titles currently in use for women. The present King (Bhumibhol, King Rama IX), usually, grants the titles for women on his coronation day (5 May) every year. These are the only titles for commoners that have survived in modern day usage, since the titles for men are no longer in use.

Than Phuying (ท่านผู้หญิง) is the highest title for a non-royal woman and is equivalent to the British title of Dame.

Khun Ying (คุณหญิง) is a title for married woman lower than Than Phuying. An unmarried woman is styled Khun (คุณ). It is equivalent to the British title of Lady.

Just out of curiosity, how would you transliterate that into Russian? "хун йинг"? "хун инг"? "хунинг"?
Also - the source author was definitely not a native English speaker. Most likely Thai. My proofread of the source text: "Within high society there remain many strata - including the royal circle itself - where protocol still reigns. Any respectable function requires the presence of a Khun Ying (Lady). Despite parties tending toward a younger, trendier crowd, these grandes dames are still an absolute must."
The notable differences: I really think you should transliterate the term, but provide the Russian in parentheses; and use the French "grandes dames," which I'm sure is in use in Russian as it is in English.
