Un estudio pionero demuestra con pruebas empíricas cómo las especies de plantas invasoras de ecosistemas mediterráneos, como la chumbera [prickly pear], pueden robar los polinazadores [pollinating insects] a las nativas, o, sorprendentement atraerlos beneficiando a toda la red, como el bálsamo [balsam]. El trabajo contradice la hipótesis del "mercado de flores" en la que sólo las invasoras se ven beneficiados y las nativas pierden las visitas.

The hypothesis I find cited most in connection with plant invasions is the "enemy release hypothesis" which says that invadors gain an advantage because they are attacked by natural enemies less than native species are. It's a long shot, but maybe...
