Spanish term

T.E.

Spanish to English Law/Patents Law (general) Puerto Rico
Citations in a 1961 court opinion from Puerto Rico.

(T.E. del demandante [#].)

(T. E. de la demandada [#].)

It makes sense from the context that this is testimonial evidence, with the # being page number on which it is found. But I'm not clear why the abbreviation would be in English, or if I'm missing something and there is another meaning for T.E. in Spanish. Your suggestions are appreciated.

@Irina I think you should post this as an answer, as it seems to be on target. Undefined abbreviations are a particular bugbear of mine, and I'm tempted to post it just so that it gets into the glossary. So please do post it as a suggestion before someone else does. ¡Felices Fiestas!

Spanish term (edited): T.E. / (Lo) Testifical por Escrito

(Bundle of) Written Evidence

I missed this one at X-Mas time, but the Discussion Entrants / Intrants are welcome to post the testimonio answer.

Es cosa sabida / it is true that testimonio can sometimes mean (oral or written) testimony that usually warrants a 'course of testimony' chapter in Anglo-Am. textbooks on the law of evidence, though - more often than not - means a certified copy.

Bundle : see the first weblink of 'foliated' evidence.

PS Abbreviations and acronyms are also a time-wasting bugbear for most translators. No one has managed at T&I conferences to answer the question of what to do - and how to 'translate' - when some abbreviations are known after being decoded and deciphered and others aren't.
