First of all, I'm a full-time freelancer, so I suppose the question means moving to an in-house position. I worked as staff translator at an EU institution for 20 years and retired in 2006. I loved the work, my boss, my colleagues and… the pay (I usually earned much more than I do now). I often miss the camaraderie, the lunchtime chats, the teamwork and also the helpdesk support! All the work done there prepared me for freelancing…

Only if it would mean doing what I am doing now (translation and transcreation), but for more money... In that case, I wouldn't mind going to an office every day.

Yes, but actually no

I would absolutely consider the perceived security of an in-house employee position if: - the pay was at least equal to my current income; - I could work from home 100% of my time (guess I could live with coming into the office about once a month); - I could still have a variety of clients and types of text to work on, so things don't become tedious after two days.
So, basically, no, not going to happen.

Absolutely, if the offer were great. Otherwise, probably not.

I already am a full-time employee at my own company. I surely wouldn't mind somebody else paying the employer's share of my taxes but I'm afraid my boss would never forgive such betrayal, she always lets me do whatever I want and I don't even have to ask. Also my office is really nice and the commute is short, couldn't wish for anything better.

I was a freelancer for a few years before starting in-house translating nearly 11 years ago. Both have their pros and cons, although the freedom freelancers have does make me question my decision sometimes.
