Other:) The thing is, most of the time deadlines are unrealistic because my clients never seem to factor in translation time/expenses when planning (which not all of them appear to do, planning, that is, at least in this part of Spain). Nor do they understand that you have several clients, not just them. I have a client in Market Research who consistently sends me "urgent" jobs on Thursday/Fridays that are desperately needed for the Sunday/Monday... but eventually you get used to it, and I suppose it keeps me out of the pub.
My other personal bugbear is PDF and other not-easily-transformable formats. One of my clients persistently sends me PDF or protected documents as a matter of course, and I've had to prepare a circular memo for all clients reminding them that if they want things done quickly, it takes 2 to tango... or else they can pay a supplement of 50%, which usually smartens them up sharpish.
And please, don't recommend me any programs to de-PDF PDFs, because I've tried them and they either don't work properly or are too time-consuming.
I also still work with a dial-up internet connection, but that doesn't really slow me down unless the files are really big, but I can usually find a (still time-consuming) way around that ...

Constant interruptions: cold call advertising (possibly the most frustrating), people who think that my work is "interruptible", ranging from my partner who thinks I´m superwoman (well it´s the most positive way of looking at how much he expects me to be able to do in one day), my children (I forgive them), to 98% of my professional contacts, without forgetting my strange desire to do other things occasionally like cook/clean/do the shopping etc.

Let it be generally known that you are a pretty useless person, not to be relied upon for giving good advice, knowing how to find out about something, fix something, where to get hold of something, coming up with solutions in a crisis etc etc.

Lack of time definitely deserves a separate poll option.
For me, it's lack of time, combined with demands of family members, housework piling up and the internet..

I know it sounds presumptuos, nasty and vain but my worst hindrance is, definitely, my perfectionism. When I read a novel (or a short story, an essay, a poem) I expect it to be absorbing, fascinating, exciting, intelligent: a key to understand the world, a bridge between silence and wonder, a whole universe in words, a warm fire against the winter of our discontent (or a good reason for our discontent). Yes! Also in my case. I try to be very disciplined during working time, but my lunch times can get as unreasonable as about one hour because of the modern-times mini-series, the first season, the second season.... and now because of season one from the seventies... Yes, I must be really sick if I like the episodes from the seventies... of course not as much as I love the modern series.

what is the text about Feb 16, 2007

There is something else you guys havent mentioned but certainly is an obstacle for most of you: bad quality of the source text.

And the subject treated.

It is so very hard for me to work on a stubborn theme, specially when it happens to be those repetitive marketing brochure texts, where it says the very same thing 365 times.

all the rest works fine for me.
