Preliminary design

APS is one of a long string of 'trigrammes' referring to different stages in construction projects (AVP, APO, EXE, PRO, DCE etc.) . They obviously apply it to exhibition design too.
The English equivalent is 'preliminary design'. Although it can be abbreviated ...
"The purpose of the PRELIMINARY DESIGN—which may also be called the Master Plan or the Site Plan, or just “THE PRELIM”—is to assign forms and finishes to the functions that were organized in the Schematic Design. since we do not have that list of stages, or at least have not boiled them down to a consistent set of 3-letter abbreviations, the abbreviation is not exactly standard ... or necessarily immediately understood.
