track

Catalan to English Social Sciences Media / Multimedia
The sentence runs "...amb altres col·legues vam crear un track anomenat el Fòrum Llatinoamericà, per facilitar que més gent d'Amèrica Llatina pogués participar en aquesta associació..." What does 'track' mean in this context? The original conversation may well have been in Spanish. The only examples I can find in English refer to recording walking routes or music. Any suggestions?

I'm still unsure about this. I like Berni's suggestion but can't find it used in English sources. Kathryn's last 4 examples would appear to be spot on but none is from an original English language source.

43 mins

caucus (?)

It appears to mean that they created a caucus within the organisation that certain members could use to join the greater conversation. I think the use of track here is borrowed from recording a song in a studio in which several tracks with different instruments are recorded and then later combined into the finished song.

track (as used in an academic setting)

This might refer to "track" as they use it in universities, an academic course or path, but applied to a sub-group of the association. For example, at a university, within a Business Admin degree, you might have the tracks General Business Management, Analytics, and Health Administration, from which students choose as a specialty.

I've seen this used in both English and Spanish/Catalan to designate a subset/subgroup:

See these examples:

https://www.sas.com/da_dk/events/sas-user-forum/2017.html " >> "Intro & Welcome in each track"

https://www.redhat.com/es/forums/emea/iberia-track >> "Disfruta de las sesiones del track de España y Portugal en el evento EMEA Red Hat Forum 2020"

It refers to specific content for a specialty or geographical location. You can keep it in English as "track".
