Discussion

stephen mewes (asker) Jul 5, 2009:
uden iskørsel Yes it is an ice hockey tournament. I was wondering if the 'uden iskørsel' refers to resurfacing of the ice? Here's a bit more context:

DM slutspil

DM slutspillet spilles over en weekend med deltagelse af 8 hold.

Turneringen spilles som en ’alle mod alle’ turnering efter en turneringsplan, der udarbejdes af xxxs turneringsansvarlige.

I DM slutspillet for U 13 turneringen spilles alle kampe 2 x 20 min. effektiv tid uden iskørsel.

Definitely ice hockey, I've found a number of references to it, several sentences that look very similar to the context sentence, it also shows up as an entry on schedules. I'm thinking it maybe refers to when they're cleaning the ice, but I'm not sure yet.
David Young Jul 5, 2009:
What kind of tournament is it? That is, what game are they playing? I roughly translate 'uden iskørsel' as 'without ice driving', but I doubt that's the answer you're looking for, and I'm not sure what it would be referring to. Is it an ice hockey tournament?

without resurfacing (the ice)

Another possibility: In Swedish I have often heard the term "spola" and the Swedish-English dictionary translates this into "flood" with reference to an ice rink.
