Hi. I have a surgical report for a patient with Crohn's disease, describing a rectoscopy/proctoscopy before direct loop ileostomy closure.
There is a tick in the box next to "sans anesthésie" and underneath it says
"Recto AL le 06/12/2013 en programmé"
I would say Recto AL means "local anesthetic via rectal route/intrarectal local anesthetic" but I'm not sure whether "en programmé" means "scheduled" as in scheduled procedure (probably not here) or whether it refers to the administration of the anesthesia via a pre-programmed or computerised system, i.e. "computerised local anaesthetic (rectal route)". The more I look at it, the less certain I am!
Your thoughts on this would be most appreciated. Thank you!

I think that it really means "en chirurgie programmée" so for the direct loop ileostomy closure

Note from asker:
So the entire phrase would be along the lines of "local anesthetic via rectal route on X date as a planned procedure"? |
Ah, thanks! |
