German term

Blickschranken

German to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
This is from a text about an art exhibition that includes a video installation. The previous paragraph describes the film within a film projected onto a wall, in other words, there is an "actor" being filmed while he is filming.
The sentence is:
Umgekehrt wird dieses individuelle Aneignungsmoment von objektiven Gegebenheiten wie Raumklang, Lärm, Blickschranken und anderen Sichtbeeinträchtigungen gebrochen.

Thanks in advance.

obstacles/obstructions

you might want to ask the client more specifically about what is meant, but at first glance it seems to just be a matter of something obstructing the view of the piece

agree Stephen Reader : Definitely with your proviso. Then it c'd include intentional barriers as Lonnie suggests, too. Think 'obstructing the view... ' shd go into the text.

agree Helen Shiner : with Stephen - visual obstructions, I'd say or 'obstructed sightlines'. Then there is room to use something more general for the Sichtbeeinträchtigungen.

restricted view

Often used for theatre seats that have pillars etc in the way.

I don't know how you can differentiate Blickschranken and Sichtbeeinträchtigungen though. Perhaps best to rephrase the sentence and put them together?

screening partitions/panels

It's a bit hard to say without seeing the actual set-up and construction involved, but the Blickschranken are actual physical panels this should fit.

or: "obstructing screens", since "screening" could be confused with the video presentation/projection.

agree Stephen Reader : possible - as you say, wanna see it (gawd this is getting tautological)
