German term

überwiegend berufstätig

German to English Bus/Financial Education / Pedagogy accommodation conditions
Nicht wohnberechtigt sind: Studenten, die überwiegend berufstätig sind.
This is among the conditions in a Mietvertrag stating who is entitled to student accommodation.
I assume this covers employment which is less than full time but excludes, for example, evening work as a barman. "Part-time employed" does not seem right to me.

predominantly employed

Respondents looking for Master's programming were predominantly employed, at least part-time, and many were also current students. About ten percent more respondents from rural areas identified themselves as full or part-time students than those from midsize or urban areas.

Let's see what collegues have to say.

And it gets around 9.6 million Googles!

neutral Cilian O'Tuama : em, check again, the exact phrase gets less than 100 googles// Put it within quotation marks for the exact phrase - Ergebnisse 1 - 10 von ungefähr 91 für "predominantly in employment". (0,06 Sekunden)

Copy & Paste: Ergebnisse 1 - 10 von ungefähr 9.690.000 für predominantly in employment. (0,13 Sekunden). Do you use a different Google? I stand corrected - and today I have learnt something I didn´t know!
agree Armorel Young : Frosty: Cilian is right - you must have Googled without quotation marks, so got every single ref. to employment there is, while C. googled for "predominantly in employment" and got refs. to the whole phrase only (I still think it's an OK phrase).

Thanks Armorel, and thanks - I honestly didn´t know the trick with the quotation marks!

German term (edited): berwiegend berufsttig

predominently employed

what he means is that not part-time 1 or 2 hour employment, but his employment extends much more than the conventionally permissible limit which will entitle him to apply for the student accommodation
Peer comment(s):

agree Nicole Schnell : Of course I agree here!
