German term

Verlustausgleichsanspruch

German to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
From the minutes of an Aufsichtratssitzung:
As part of the elucidation of the P&L sheet for 2003:
"Die Reduzierung des Zinsmehraufwandes sei auf die Verzinsung des Verlustausgleichsanspruchs 2002 zurückzuführen."

Any help appreciated.

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Nov 17, 2004:
Am I right in understanding that you're both saying that this is to do with having taken out insurance against the business making losses?? This possibility didn't occur to me - is this really possible? Be grateful for anyone who knows about these things.

claim for repayment of tax

Declined
This term is frequently used in tax matters to describe the set-off of tax losses or repayments due, usually intra-group but maybe not. A tax asset in this context might attract interest depending on who the claim is against.
More detail/background is necessary to work out what this refers to.
