German term

alles gut einrichten um nachzukommen

German to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters 19th-century letter
This appears in a letter written in 1849 from Düsseldorf to a 21-year-old member of the family who was temporarily in Bremen, awaiting departure on the steamship Washington. His family wrote him: "...und in Amerika nur alles gut einrichten um nachzukommen." Any ideas?

Discussion

Nicole Schnell Dec 17, 2005:
So it's the Baron who wants to follow while the family stays at home..

To assist with the translation, here's the context in which the phrase appears, including all the misspellings, etc.: "Dsseldorf, d 10 Juni 1849. Lieber Carl! Doch hast Du das Blttchen liegen lassen von Hr. Westhof. Du wirst wohl glcklich in Bremen angekommen sein. Sei nur recht vorsichtig in alle Theile. Baron lt Dich nochmahls herzlich gren, und in Amerika nur alles gut einrichten um nachzukommen. Von einer Station schreibe wenn Du abfhrts. Lebe recht wohl und komme glcklich ber. Da wnschen Dir alle bekannte, Eltern und Geschwister."

undertake all the proper preparations so the family can follow

If I had the full sentence I could provide decent grammar :-)
