German term
Grantel
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Livestock / Animal Husbandry
hunting
this is a german term for the molars of a deer. recently I saw jewellery at an auction made of "granteln" and gold. I should like to know whether there is an english word for this. apparently deers only have two of these molars and they are kept by hunters as trophies.

Grantel
According to a Jäger of my acquaintance, the taking of these two teeth - and especially turning them into jewelry - is a `speciality´ of the German hunting scene. Despite extensive international contacts, he has not heard of it being practised elsewhere. So leave it as it is, but with an explanatory footnote.
