German term

als Pressure Point ausführen

German to English Tech/Engineering Manufacturing Riveting
Context:

Nach Zeichnung A wird auf Position X der 2. Niet
von oben beim Doubler Pos. Y, als Pressure Point mit 2,5mm ausgeführt.

I'm not 100% certain about this, what precisely does "als Pressure Point mit 2,5mm ausgeführt" mean?

Discussion

David Williams (asker) Nov 19, 2009:
And apparently rivet holes can also be 'als Pressure Point ausgeführt', e.g.:

"die jeweils 6 Nietbohrungen für ... als Pressure Point mit d=2,5 mm ausführen."

Is it possible to "drill a hole as a pressure point"?
David Williams (asker) Nov 19, 2009:
New, slightly different context This evidently doesn't mean it is designed as a pressure point:
"Entgegen Zeichnung, in den beiden Laschen den jeweils inneren Niet als Pressure Point mit 2,5mm ausführen, da sonst der Fitting nicht mehr eingebaut werden kann."
How does this sound:
"Contrary to the drawing, install the inner rivet in each of the splice plates as a 2.5 mm pressure point, as it will otherwise be impossible to install the fitting"?
David Williams (asker) Oct 7, 2009:
Explanation from the client Damit ist gemeint, dass hier ein Druckpunkt mit einer 2,5mm Bohrung platziert wird.<br>Does that shed any new light on this? Now I'm not even sure if it is actually a rivet or a pressure point that we are talking about.
Blaess Oct 2, 2009:
see answer to your next question you wouldn´t translate the "mit", no need to add "installed" - it is included in "ausgeführt" - you may either use "designed" (pref.) or "installed" - or yet other terms (see your next q)
David Williams (asker) Oct 2, 2009:
What about the "mit"? I'm still a but puzzled by the "mit 2,5mm". Does that mean "designed (to function) as a 2.5 mm pressure point" or does it mean the length or diameter of the rivet (or the pressure point)?
Also, I think it still needs an "installed" in there somewhere, doesn't it? e.g. "installed at position X designed to function as a 2.5 mm pressure point."

installed as a pressure point

I think "ausfuehren" implies more of an action than design
