In einem Arztschreiben ueber einen Herzpatienten: Komplizierend trat ein ausgepraegtes Leistenhaematom auf (dopplersonographisch kein Hinweis fuer Aneurysma oder AV-Fistel); bei minimalem Hb von 0.0 g/dl substituierten wir den Patienten mit 2EKs.

From Pchyrembel, it appears that "EK" is another term for "EKG" (Elektrokardiogramm), and the above is the English equivalent of EKG, electrocardiogram.
