German term
BD Hell-/Dunkel-Motiv
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Medical: Instruments
endoscopy equipment inspection
Guter Kontrast
Der Kontrast wird an einem kontrastreichen Motiv geprüft.
**BD Hell/Dunkel-Motiv**
From a table of results from the inspection of an endoscopic instrument, column "Merkmalsbezeichnung / Beschreibung der Prüfung".
Elsewhere, a "BD Motiv" is mentioned (s. my previous question):
"Keine Schatten
Das Bildfeld muß gleichmäßig hell sein
(keine dunklen Zonen)
***BD Motiv***: Weiße Fläche"
Any hints much appreciated.

Bilddarstellung / imaging
My hunch is this is about verifying the imaging quality of the instrument. So in proper German, the phrase might read "Bilddarstellung eines Hell/Dunkel-Motivs".

Would also fit your other question, as in "Bilddarstellungsmotiv" or "Motiv für die Bilddarstellung". What's white needs to be shown as white.

Comment: "Thanks Cetacea and Fabius. Of the 2 suggestions, this one seems to be the safer one, since from what little information I have I can at least tell that it is definitely about imaging, although on the other hand, this would be the only instance of an abbreviation for Bild in the whole text."
