Ich denke, es handelt sich hier um eine Rangverrechnung durch die die endgültige Rangliste der Regatta erst zustande kommen kann:

"Analysis and Clearing

On shore, the Message Queue messages are unpacked and passed to the system via an automatic SQL data storage procedure. There, the sail number and class are linked with the right crew on the basis of the check-in data, so that the most up-to-date list of craft past the post is always available for every race. Every result and every position transferred to the SQL Server is also returned by the server to the person recording the results, so they have an overview of the yachts and numbers already entered.

These ranking lists are constantly updated until the end of the race, where the overall result for each yacht class is then calculated, via components running under the Microsoft Transaction Server. Only at this stage are the final rankings established; and from these, Active Server Pages are used to generate the HTML information."

I contacted my Auftraggeberin... and received MORE info!

...beide Vorschläge treffen das nicht unbedingt, der erste betrifft ein System das es beim Wassersport (betreffend der Personen) so eigentlich nicht gibt. Beim Golfsport läuft das z.B. so. Bei den Schiffen wird das dann nicht als Handicap tituliert, sondern als Vergütungsfaktor. Hier im Joker-Text ist die Umkehrung des eben gehabten F 18 -Punktes. Hier segeln verschiedene Yachttypen gegeneinander und werden auf Grund ihrer verschiedenen Vermessungen mit einem Faktor belegt bzw. nach verschiedenen Vermessungssystemem in Gruppen eingesetzt. Bei den größeren Yachten -nicht Jollen- , früher IOR, jetzt meistens IMS bzw. für Fahrtenyachten Yardstick = rating. Das Clearing betrifft die Auswertung. Im Deutschen als "Wertung mit Streicher" bekannt.
