Discussion

Non-ProZ.com May 23, 2005:
Yes, I know. That would look pretty silly:
Home team
High Season
Low Season
:)
Allesklar May 23, 2005:
you can't, unfortunately, but I won't be upset if you go with the accomodation guide... when I entered 'host directory' I thought of something like a student exchange program (and yes, it looks more like a computing term than anything else...)
Textklick May 23, 2005:
'Home team' was meant with a wry frown... ;-))
Non-ProZ.com May 23, 2005:
it's followed by a list of words like "high season," "bed and breakfasts," etc., from an Austrian tourism brochure/web page. I think "host directory" and "accommodation guide" both sound appropriate. But not "home team"!! How can I give points to both answerers?
Jonathan MacKerron May 23, 2005:
do you have an entire sentence, or at least a bit more context?

accommodation guide

You are right about some dictionaries - they seem to like the word "home team" :-(

Peer comment(s):

agree sylvie malich (X) : accomodation directory. I've even seen it as pension directory

Thanks, Syl. 'Pension' doesn't work in the UK, unless you're saving for retirement. Also, the term stated would probably include anything from hotels to 'flophouses' ;-)
agree Armorel Young : sounds much the most natural to me - "host directory" sounds too much like a computing term :-)

Thanks Armorel. I don't think we want to know about 'hosting services' when on holiday, right? :)
agree Jonathan MacKerron : I'm with Armorel

agree Edith Kelly : Without more context, this is the obvious choice.

agree BrigitteHilgner : Maybe "list of hosts" if it is something less official/comprehensive?
