German term

Abstellvereinbarung

Not for points German to English Tech/Engineering Transport / Transportation / Shipping
Abstellvereinbarung and abstellen. I'm not sure if it's about goods storage, goods deposit etc...and there may be the notion of temporary. In a glossary here in proz I found Abstellen = temporary storage. But I'm not sure how to translate Abstellvereinbarung (perhaps temporary storage agreement).

Here is as much context as possible below. The text that these sentences have been taken from deals with "delivery agreements" in general and explains the different ones.

The description for Abstellvereinbarung is as follows:

More about the agreements:

Discussion

GASQUET (asker) Dec 9, 2007:
temporary storage agreement I'm still thinking about this, what Nicole says makes sense although deposit probably does denote "money". I still like temporary storage agreement as effectively the idea is storage in the absence of the customer. It doesn't specify for how long the storage will be. They do mention that sometimes a key will be needed, but not in all cases. Temporary storage is general enough not to get into trouble (i.e. without specifying in the translation something which may not be true). I'm going to leave the question open in case anybody else comes up wi¡th something.
Thanks to both Eva & Nicole for your help,
Tara

temporary storage agreement

(as put so eloquently by yourself ;-) )

It sounds like this covers delivery instructions such as 'please leave in garage if out' and I would say that your suggestion fits perfectly.
Note from asker:
Thanks Eva, I think this fits the bill.

This service is offered by several carriers, often by carriers dispatching during the night or weekend, when the consignee is not present.

A german carrier describes it as: The goods are delivered to the consignee and deposited in a lockable location. Whether this is a technician's vehicle, a container, garage or storage facility, delivery is made in accordance with the customer's individual requirements.

Temporary storage agreement would not fully fit the bill, I think. The carrier can't just drop the shipment, often carriers have keys to certain locations, sometimes even the trunk of a car is used (if that has been agreed).

Not sure whether 'deposit agreement' could be used (could sound too much like money deposit)
