Portuguese term
un mercado solicitado apenas
Portuguese to English
Art/Literary
Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
I am finding 'solicitado' and 'apenas' tricky here. The sense I am getting from this sentence is that the market demands traditional paintings which can be hung on the wall, which this artist does not produce. But I am struggling rendering this structure in English. All help appreciated.
thanks

That's how I read your context.

I think the sentence is poorly phrased in Portuguese (the use of . "solicitações" and "solicitado"). The literal translation would be "the demands from a market that only demands works of art for hanging on the walls". "The demands from a market for works of art for hanging on the wall are very big" (another suggestion)." will also do.

Note from asker:
how would you cope with the solicitações/solicitado, Marlene? I understand that the market makes demands but am confused about the sense in which it is 'solicitado'. Thank you! |
