ESTONIAN–ENGLISH NEWS SUMMARY WRITER

Our translation agency is looking for an Estonian–English professional. The task includes news selection and news summarization from Estonian into English (2-4 articles/day), delivery is 10:00 AM (CET) on weekdays. The client is an international company specialised in the energy market.

We monitor online media contents in this project. The daily job needs to be done in our web-based media monitoring platform, PressMonitor. On the platform there are news articles found by the search engine based on the keywords defined by our client. In short, our candidate will supply news selection and summarization services for us.

The job includes news selection, writing summaries of 800 characters (6–7 sentences) in English from the selected news, and uploading the summaries to the platform. The summaries are expected to be uploaded in the PressMonitor every weekday by 10:00 CET at the latest.
The project period is medium term, estimated at a few months, half a year.

The aim of the summaries is to briefly inform decision-makers of a big international energy trading company about the main market events and on the media reception the company has in the given country. Most of the news harvested by our media monitor platform is hard news, i.e. it is primarily about politics, economy and social issues – news agency reports, op-eds and pieces of journalism.

Requirements:
Fluent Estonian, excellent English or the other way around.
