Spanish term

Tirar manteca al techo

Spanish to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters Expresiones

to have all the money in the world

"es tan pero tan ricachón, que tira manteca al techo" = he's so damned rich that he's got all the money in the world

"en su situación, la cosa no está como para andar tirando manteca al techo" = in his situation, it's not exactly like he's got all the money in the world

Well, the reply in German appears to be "to throw money out the window", can't find the rest, but I guess we're all on the same track.

he/she thinks money grows on trees

this is a classic way of saying it.....
Peer comment(s):

neutral Sarah Brenchley : In my opinion, this has a negative connotation - that someone doesn't appreciate the value of money and wastes it.
