authorised or licensed hunting land/area

This is definitely the concept, though maybe there's a different term. It's the sign a landowner puts up to inform people that this is (private) hunting land, so you might get shot if you stroll through it!

game reserve

"A game reserve is an area of land set aside for maintenance of wildlife for tourism or hunting purposes. Many game reserves are located in Africa. Most are open to the public, and tourists commonly take sightseeing safaris or hunt wild game."

territory, property

It highly depends on the context, because literally it is what everybody is saying, but it is also an idiomatic expression, meaning that something belongs to someone.

Por ejemplo: XXX ocupó la Gerencia del departamento YYY y lo convirtió en su coto de caza.

Hope it helps.

Gracias Álvaro, pero sin un contexto está difícil saber cuál es la traducción correcta en este caso.

Just to extend Brenda,

In Spain at any rate, a "coto de caza" can be both public or private, though admittedly most are private.

Game Reserve is the term used by most English-speaking African countries to refer to these areas, while they use terms such as "national park", "wildlife reserve", "nature reserve" for areas where the prime aim is conservation and hunting is illegal.

Your target reader may be important. A game hunter would probably be attracted by the expression "game reserve", which can be quite evocative, whereas the general public might find it misleading.

As I added later, hunting grounds, whether public or private, are probably a more widely understandable term.

The final term can also depend on whether you are targeting audiences from any specific country. From the answers and agrees provided so far it seems "hunting reserve" might be an adequate choice for a U.S. audience. :O) :O)
Peer comment(s):

neutral Matthew Smith : Doesn't this imply you CAN'T hunt there? Just read your reply - interesting and thanks.

Actually a game reserve can be both, but when for conservation purposes they're generally termed wildlife or nature reserves. The concept varies from one country to another - confusing term I suppose. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_reserve :O) :O)
agree Juan Antonio Castán Abán : I love your explanation, and choose 'hunting ground' for a general 'coto de caza', for my assignment thanks
