This seemingly simple term has got me stumped. Can anyone help out? The text is a user manual for a lab unit for staining sample slides; the section is about how to replace a drive belt:

"Esta correa de transmisión se sujeta a la parte superior de la estructura del carro por medio de dos piezas dentadas, con el mismo *paso* de la correa, cada una de las cuales se fija por medio de cuatro tornillos de cabeza cilíndrica."

...the two toothed pieces , apparently have an opening between them that is the same width as the belt...
