Spanish term
sondeos & sondeos de testigo continuo
Spanish to English
Tech/Engineering
Context: statistical techniques used to reconstruct a model of a slate deposit, so as to identify potentially exploitable areas.
The problem is that there isn't an exact equivalent in English in all forms of noun, verb, adjective etc.
Possible translations are boreholes, cores, exploratory drilling etc.
But I have to trandslate 'sondeos' and 'testigo continuo' as in the following extracts:
(THE BOREHOLES????)
(BOREHOLE???)
Thanks in advance.

test boring/perforation
what about if you translate it as "test boring," and "continuous test boring/perforations
**a set of 10 continuous test borings/perforations
los ***testigos*** tuvieron un diametro de 63mm

Perforation or bore holes
Bore holes is correct, but you could also use perforations.
Testigo continuo would be continuous core samples. This is the solid, cylindrical sample removed from the rock to analyse it's composition at varying depths.
Hope that helps.

borings and continuous coring borings
I agree with Robert above that borings is the term that rings more bells.
Having done some environmental investigation translations with an expert on the subject, continuous coring was the term used for testigo continuo

drilling / boreholes / drillholes / core
Hi tanto tiempo no?
to drill/Drilling and boreholes are pretty synonymous with each other and so you can use either (depending on context of course). Drillholes, are by their nature, often exploratory.
e.g. cada sondeo (each borehole)
conjunto de sondeos (a set of boreholes / drillholes).
testigos: usually "core" (and in this context seems to be so.

test drillings
for "sondeos":
"Under a $450,000 grant from the Massachusetts Highway Department, researchers spent four years copying and scanning archival records of test drillings done across the state."
Perhaps "continuous series" or "closely-spaced series" of test drillings works for "de testigo continuo".
Just my 2 cents.
