This is a television program about coastal areas in Spain. I cannot find the translation for this type of bird. Here is the context:
Las lagunas litorales son un festival de aves en el que dominan las anátidas… azulones, cucharas, cercetas, fochas. A su alrededor, invernan las especies limícolas que se alimentan de una amplia variedad de organismos acuáticos que encuentran removiendo el barro y la arena con sus picos, avefrías, ***corregimos***, chorlitejos.

correlimos Viéndolo bien y tras realizar más investigaciones, además de ver la opinón de Sheila, tiene toda la pinta de ser un error tipográfico, así que estoy totalmente de acuerdo con ella. Lo correcto debería ser "correlimos" ya que se trata de un ave de la especie "limícola", que por su derivación lógica, nos lleva a "correlimos". No obstante, creo que "dunlin" es la traducción correcta. Varias referencias nos llevan a "dunlin", pero no podemos estar 100% seguros porque hay diversas especies de este tipo. Por lo tanto, como dice Omar, "me corrijo con corregimos". Lamento haber creado esta confusión. No obstante, el término en inglés creo que puede ser éste, al menos así lo indican las diversas referencias aportadas. Hi Pamela First of all I just wanted to ask if you could change the glossary entry, because it is not correct.

'Corregimos' is almost definitely a typo for 'correlimos', no doubt caused by the spell-check function on Word 'correcting' 'correlimos' and suggesting 'corregimos'. Secondly, we don't know WHICH species of 'correlimos' is being referred to, at least not from the part of the text you have quoted. So, without more information, we cannot tell whether it's a dunlin or another correlimos species. Personally I would ask the client to confirm which species is being discussed.

correlimos = sandpiper (Calidris spp.)

I suppose it might be a typo for 'correlimos' - a species of sandpiper (genus Calidiris)

I just realised it was for Spain, so that rules some of the species out. It could be a little stint - correlimos menudo (Calidris minuta) or the correlimos alpina - dunlin )Calidris alpina) or correlimos zarapitín - curlew sandpiper (Calidris ferruginea)...

Unless you know exactly which species of 'correlimos' is being referred to, it may be safest to say 'sandpipers, knots and stints'. Or Calidris spp. (with Calidris in italics), depending on the audience the text is aimed at.

In fact, when I think about it, many of the smaller members of the family Scolopacidae are known as 'sandpipers' in the UK, even though they are not all 'sandpipers'. Sorry, I'm tired and haven't explained that very well! In any case, I think you could probably simply say 'sandpipers' as a general term for 'correlimos' in your case.

I would consult the client to make sure, but it appears fairly likely to me that this is a typo for 'correlimos', given the context :)

The Scolopacidae are a large family of waders, (known as shorebirds in North America). Many of the smaller species are often called "sandpipers", especially members of genera Calidris, Tringa and Actitis. Other well-known groups include curlews and snipes. The majority of species eat small invertebrates picked out of the mud or soil. Different lengths of bills enable different species to feed in the same habitat, particularly on the coast, without direct competition for food.
