español term

Como hoy en día "todo está en Internet" abriremos un foro en Facebook

español al inglés Arte/Literatura Cine, películas, TV, teatro Script treatment
This is the treatment of a movie project. The authors opened forums both in Twitter and Facebook asking about a place which doesn't exist. The phrase "todo está en internet" refers to the idea that nowadays you can find out almost everything just by doing the right search online.
I need your help to chose the most proper way to express that idea...hoy en día "todo está en Internet" .

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): philgoddard

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Muriel Vasconcellos Jun 29, 2011:
Not a non-PRO question My understanding is that the asker is looking for more than a literal translation.
David Ronder Jun 28, 2011:
Well I'd go for a combination of all these... ;)

Since "everything is online" these days, we going to open a forum on Facebook

No really sure why "todo está en Internet" is in quotes, but this is one way of expressing it.

As today "nothing exists if it's not on the Web", we'll set up/create a forum in Facebook

This is a play on a popular marketing idea "If you're not on the Web/in Internet, you don't exist", meaning that everyone should have some kind of online presence. Since the authors set up a forum (or open a thread in an already established forum) to ask information about a place that doesn't really exist, this type of line might have more punch, humor, and irony.

Since the Internet is where everything happens these days, we are going to start up a forum on FB

Or: ... the Internet is where the action is...

I think the idea is that the Internet is the place to be because that's where all the ACTION is.
Peer comment(s):

agree David Ronder : Yes, this one stands out - by far the most natural-sounding - and I take your discussion point about a non-literal translation.
