My tentative translation:

the poorly executed exterior sets

Other, and perhaps better, ideas?

Thank you.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: ""Lamentable" seems to strike the right note here. "Ill-conceived" is feasible as well. I don't think "unfortunate" works at all in this context. Thank you, Jenni. And thanks to everyone else who responded as well."

español term (edited): la desafortunada ambientación de las escenas de exterior

the embarrassingly poor/cringe-worthy outdoor scenes

Goodness, that’s not a very favourable review, is it? The person is all-out slating it. For that reason, I think I’d go with something accordingly strong. “Embarrassingly poor” or “cringe-worthy” express that harsh tone pretty succinctly in English, I would say. I really get the impression that the reviewer thinks the makers/actors ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Greetings.

the infelicitous outdoor settings

I do think 'infelicitous' gets close to the meaning of 'desafortunada' here - implying an aesthetic judgement and the idea that the film-makers have simply got it wrong and have the visual equivalent of a tin ear.

Setting of scenes, outdoor, outside, exterior, sets: you can probably play around with these without losing the sense. 'Outdoor settings' is for me an economical way of doing the job.
