I'm looking for a nice concise phrase here to capture the idea of twigs, leaves, dirt etc. Can anyone suggest anything better than "debris from the fields" or would it be acceptable just to say "twigs, leaves, dirt etc"?
Many thanks in advance.
"El tratamiento que se le da a la fruta inicialmente está normalizado, es decir se parte de la selección de frutas por tamaño y estado de maduración en origen, pasando posteriormente dichas frutas a una limpieza en seco mediante rodillos para la **eliminación de restos del campo**."

HI Noni, it applies to melons and other fruit of the same family. |

: "debris" is not the way to go in English in this context

Perhaps you could explain what you understand by debris that makes it an inappropriate term. See more refs and definition above.

to eliminate unwanted/extraneous items
I'm not sure such specificity is necessary considering it is already established that we're dealing with items related to cleaning fruit
it would seem understood that this refers to said "twigs, leaves, dirt, etc." by anyone familiar in any way with this field of work and process

Yes, or maybe "eliminate any debris" would also work. |
Thanks for this answer, which pointed me in the right direction. |

I basically agree with Phil that it boils down to cleaning away any dirt as I don't think debris or twigs are involved here
