Spanish term

Gexp

Spanish to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals trabajo práctico faculta

As far as I can make out, it's the same in English. I'll carry on checking

The only problem is that most of the English references I've seen are texts written by people with Spanish names. Gexp could mean 'grupo experimental', in which case I'm not sure what the translation would be.

Gexp appears a lot in texts about 'la prueba G de Cochran', though I can't find a G test, only Cochran's C and Q tests.

Ok!! THank you very much
Peer comment(s):

agree DLyons : G_exp is certainly correct - as you say "experimental"

G statistic / observed value of G

The ST is a little confusing. What is happening is that the authors calculate the value of a G statistic (see e.g. link below) which is some variant of Cochran's test for homoscedasticity (that would have been a value of C).

This is compared to a table value, so G_exp is the "experimental" (more commonly known as the "observed" value). And it's not what is usually known as the "expected" value.

Note from asker:
Thank you, it is indeed about Cochran's test. In the following pages this test is named.

agree Helena Chavarria : I was getting there, slowly, but I admit that the question has nothing to do with the subjects I work with.//But you've provided an explanation, something I can't do ;-)

Thanks Helena - it's something I've lived with for many years. And I think your answer works.
