Use Pliers
If enough of the screw is above the surface, try using pliers. This method of removing a stripped screw requires a bit more muscle than most. Pliers will allow you to get a firm enough grip on the screw to pull it out. Locking pliers or vise grip pliers work best.

: Yes I think this is right. Thanks to Phil for the great googling. It's a bit odd that they would specify something in opposition in the initial construction, but really there's no other logical interpretation of that shortening in the original Spanish.

I had to look up what a "tornillo pasado de rosca" is:

If the term is an abbreviation of this, the English would be a "non-stripped screw", meaning that a screwdriver can still turn it. Maybe they're specifying that care should be taken not to strip the screw / don't use a screw gun.
"Tornillo pasado" is often followed by "de rosca", with a nut, but I'm still not sure what "pasado" means.
