Immediate context is between quotes about hwo eternal life being pointless if life was not short and mortal, etc.

Wider context: academic text on longevity, ageing etc.

Reason for query: it's been translated as "meaninglessness" which fits with context, but my dictionaries only come up with "absurdity". I'm running a final double-check, hence the query. Actual only one of my bilingual dictionaries includes it and Moliner (monolingual) also has "cosa absurda = Absurdo"

i understand it's about a potential meaningless which would arise after a long and lengthy time of eternity. An absurdity, which is ridiculous, incongruous or out of place, is a bit of a leap after meaninglessness,

From my understanding, the connotation of the word "sinsentido", not only here but in general, would be more along the lines of absurdity. Meaninglessness seems like a far more clinical, emotionless word that wouldn't go well with another word in this context, "pereza", which is emotionally charged and fairly judgmental to boot.

With that said, this is by no means the only option.

One definition: "Un sinsentido es algo falso o estúpido. Si decimos que algo es un sinsentido, queremos decir que le falta sentido o lógica, que es absurdo o es contraproducente para lograr el fin que pretende."

Digging around re the author further, this seems to be the meaning. As in my discussion entry one of the writers referred to in the paragraph seems to have used "Non-sense" in writings and I was nervous of using anything with "sense" in it in the end in case it cut across this and caused confusion. However absurdity was definitely relevant. Thank you all.
