Spanish term

C. J.

Spanish to English Law/Patents Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs
Hi,

On this Mexican birth certificate from 2000, the C. Oficial, which I have translated as Registrar, of the civil registry of Zapotlan del Rey in the state of Jalisco has signed. The signature is illegible.
Under "Name" it says C. J. Jesús Garcia Mendoza. Via Google I found this PDF https://seplan.app.jalisco.gob.mx/biblioteca/archivo/descarg...

There are many people with C. (Ciudadano?) or C.J. in front of their name, including C. J. Jesús Garcia Mendoza, Regidor (alderman) in that pdf.

Does the interpretation "Ciudadano Juez" make any sense at all or what could it stand for (with translation, please)?

Best regards,

Judge

I would go with your suggestion of "ciudadano juez", but omit "ciudadano", see comments in the other Proz posts

Examples:
Oficio en que el C. J. Moreno Baca comunica que el 11 del mes en curso tomó posesión del cargo de juez 1o. de lo Penal de la ciudad de México
El C. J. E. Gómez y Causaran comunica que con fecha 1o. de enero, tomó posesión del cargo de presidente del Tribunal Superior de Justicia del Estado de Veracruz

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Looking at the situation and your links, it's safe to say it means "Ciudadano Juez", and that this means "Judge"."

Ciudadano

I have found an interesting site about these abbreaviations. I hope it may help. I would translate as Ciudadano.

neutral philgoddard : Your reference is way too long to read, and I can't see anything about C.J.
