Danish term

en halebanke

Danish to English Art/Literary Geology
Driving on a road in a desert in Egypt in the 1950s, two Danes in a jeep encounter:

"En halebanke lå hen over vejen.

I can't find anything on "halebanke" in Danish that supports this, so this is all based on context... Could it be a ridge of sand that crosses the road - a tail out from the cliffs/rocks, with ridges/ripples on it? Would that make sense with what comes further on in your text?

Interestingly, Google produced this: http://forum.lokanova.net/viewtopic.php?p=51568&sid=e948871c...
