English term

preimagial

English Other Environment & Ecology morphology, biology, beetles
This is a text about tiger beetles. It is talking about previous studies, and saying that there are relatively few studies about the immature and pupal stages of this species. Then it says:
studies of the preimagial phase are certainly old....

I cannot find any trace of such a word. Can anyone tell me if this is correct, or what it should be and/or what it means?
Thanks very much
xx

before adulthood / before metamorphosis/pre-adulthood

Imago: An adult insect produced after metamorphosis

I suggest to use WordWeb dictionary for words which may be used only in science.
