Wake up gradually (in the morning)

It means that you don't have to wake up harshly or abruptly as one might with the traditional shrill alarm clock that has one jumping out of bed to shut it off. Instead, one can use the Google Home app to make waking up easier and more gradual. The AM here is a reference to the abbreviations AM (for morning) and PM (for night). To wake up or do something in the a.m. is to wake up (or do something) in the morning.

Example from an article (under tip #2):

If you do find yourself with extra time in the a.m., opt for something that can help keep you grounded, like light exercise, journaling, or meditation.
