Guyanese
The way I read this excerpt from Merriam-Webster Online, Guyanese is the correct term for "from/of Guyana", while either Guianan or Guianese is used for "from/of Guiana".

Oh dear. I think I\'ve just understood what your question is really about. According to my old atlas (from 1982) the Guiana Highlands = Macizo de la Guayana - with the extra \"a\". My new atlas (2001) has only Guyana and no mention of any highlands. If you mean people from the Guiana Highlands and not from the republic of Guyana, Guianese or Guianan would be correct.

Does this help?
My problem was that I had used a standard Guianese (East Caribbean) idiom which was not standard English. The difference lay in Caribbean English Usage. That was the beginning.

Guayanan Highlands moist forests
This ecoregion is located in the highlands of southern Venezuela and northern Brazil, and
extends into western Guyana and Eastern Colombia. The region sits on the Guayanan
Shield which underlies the northern region of South America. It hosts vast expanses of tall primary rainforest and open, treeless or nearly treeless savannas, and rich gallery forests. Elevations range from 500-1500 m above sea-level, and the climate is seasonal and humid, with 2000-2400mm rainfall annually. Here, rugged terrain and unique creatures abound, as this region is an elevational "island" surrounded by llanos and lowland forest.

After viewing a view of the speeches on the Republic of Guyana embassy\'s home page I would go for Guyanese when referring to the people from the Republic of Guyana.

Guianese with ref to British Guiana and Guyanese with ref to the independent Guyana
Traditionally, Guiana and Guianese have been used to refer to the British (colonial) Guiana. Since independence, it has been often referred to as Guyana and Guyanese. so both are correct, but Guyana and Guyanese would rather refer to the independent nation, its currency, etc.
